#JusticeForTrayvon, #SaveOurGirls, #PaulasBestDishes….. these are some of the ‘Black Twitter’ topics black twitter users so proudly vented on the social media site when trying to make a situation, usually of interest, known. And though some ‘Black Twitter’ movements have shown positive sides of it’s existence via the power of social networking, ‘Black Twitter’ can also be pretty savage when it comes to cracking jokes about particular people. For instance, Gawker released a story two days ago about the signing deal between Vine famous star, Lil TerRio, and a Hollywood agency. Known for his popular “Ooh Kill ‘Em’ video, the young kid went viral after the world shared and enjoyed his comical video. Following his “Ooh Kill ‘Em’ video, Lil TerRio released a series of other videos on Vine and Instagram. Due to his unquestionable popularity, Lil TerRio literally became a star over night which lead him to his most current deal with WME. Fast forward to tonight, I guess with the current buzz of TerRio signing and being in the news, ‘Black Twitter’ thought it would be funny to use a picture of Lil TerRio, on stage at a concert, to use it to form puns of popular rappers and rap songs. Though many people would deem this as funny, in reality it really is not. Thanks to Lil TerRio’s misguided family and/or guardian, Lil TerRio is inevitably stepping into a world that at such a young age will force him to think a certain way about people and life that could be highly detrimental to his psychological growth and physical growth. At the young age of just six years old, Lil TerRio is already obese, and despite his obesity he is shown on multiple videos emulating rap stars to get a certain reaction from his followers; a viral kind of reaction. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t say that this is his fault, at the young age of six it should be the responsibility of his guardian to stop Lil TerRio’s fame from getting out of hand, but instead his guardian/family is only exploiting him for popularity. Sadly, with fame comes a lot of hatred, and ‘Black Twitter’ tonight showed just that. Take a look a some of the comments made about Lil TerRio, kind of crazy to see the times we’re living in, clearly this generation is focused on the wrong things happening in our society. It’s pretty sad to see what some youth choose to gravitate towards these days. This type of hypocrisy has to end.
