Human Rights Group Protest Hiring of Former New York Giants Super Bowl Hero!

unnamed-1

Human Rights Campaign recently criticized the New York Giants franchise for hiring David Tyree as their new director of player development. Tyree has been vocal in the past few years about his stance on homosexuality; and even went as far as to say he would trade in his famous “Super Bowl Helmet Catch” if it would stop homosexuals from being married.

*David Tyree is referring to the famous catch he made in Super Bowl XLII against the then undefeated New England Patriot. It was also the last catch he ever made in a Giants uniform (And in the NFL.)*

The Human Rights Campaign president Chad Griffin put out a statement saying, “When did Tryee decide to be straight? The idea that someone can change their sexual orientation or gender identity is ludicrous and the New York Giants are risking their credibility by hiring somone who publicly advocates this junk science. His opposition to basic legal equality aside, David Tyree’s proselytizing of such dangerous practices goes against the positive work the Giants organization has done in the recent years.”

Griffin in his statement is referring to a series of tweets in 2011 Tyree made stating that “There is no scientific evidence to support the claim of being born gay.” Do you think the New York Giants are risking their credibility hiring David Tyree? Or is this whole story just another attempt to stir up an unnecessary controversy? After all, Tyree is only 1 of possibly hundreds of employees in the New York Giants organization. Is it wrong to not provide opportunity to a former employee just because of his views on a topic that aren’t related to the team & the business of Football? Post your comments below!!
