A few days ago, multiple reports discussed the tragic accident of a 9 year old girl and her father who were struck by a plane on a Florida beach. Ommy Irizarry (36), an Army sergeant, was celebrating his ninth anniversary with his wife. Ommy Irizarry and his daughter Oceana were struck by a 1972 Piper Cherokee plane while walking along side the shoreline of Caspersen Beach. Upon being struck, Ommy died immediately. His daughter, Oceana, was airlifted to a nearby hospital, however, today she has been pronounced dead.
The plane reportedly went down due to a mechanical issue. The two co-pilots of this plane were Karl Kokomoor (57) and passenger David Theen 60. Both of these co-pilots were able to walk away from the crash uninjured. Post this horrific crash, Karl and David could be facing manslaughter charges as well as a lawsuit.
What do you think should be the verdict of this accident? Should David and Karl be charged, why or why not? We hope Ommy’s wife will one day be able to recover from this devastating lost.
