A few weeks ago we brought you the story of a woman who was paid her settlement claim with pennies. Today we’re back to report a more extreme case of a company doing the exact same thing. Is paying customers with change becoming a new trend in America? This and similar stories are getting out of hand.
73 year old Andres Carrasco filed a lawsuit against Adriana’s Insurance Service, Inc in 2012. Two years later, as of June 2014, Carrasco was able to agree with Adriana’s Insurance Service, Inc for a settlement claim of $21,000.
Now look, we understand that insurance companies don’t like paying big settlements, but was this necessary?
According to NBC Conneticut, “eight of Adriana’s Insurance employees arrived in a van with five-gallon containers full of coins in hand.”.
Carrasco, who reportedly just had a hernia operation, was not only capable of lifting those gallon containers, but was also disappointed by the way Adriana’s Insurance handled this situation.
While Adriana’s Insurance has not commented about their petty actions, many people who’ve read about this story want some type of vengeance to come out of this story. To our knowledge, coins are very much appropriate for legal tender in the United States. Sadly, nothing may come from the actions of these insurance imbeciles.
