In a terrible turn of events, New York Giants young running back David Wilson was informed by his doctors yesterday that he should not play football anymore. Wilson was a promising 1st round pick out of Virginia Tech & was planning to be the Giants starting running back this year. Unfortunately he now has to announce his retirement from playing professional football after only two years in the NFL. Wilson missed the majority of last season due to a neck injury that caused him to have spinal fusion surgery. Although his surgery was successful, his doctors have said that because of him getting injured again in the same area that he is at risk of being highly susceptible to neck injuries which can ultimately lead to permanent damage. You never want to see a player’s career end so abruptly, but at least David Wilson can say he fulfilled his ultimate goal of playing in the NFL & can now focus on a new chapter in his life while still being able to walk on his own two feet.
