Known for being the world’s wealthiest man, Bill Gates should equally be known for his philanthropic work in national and international societies. In recent new, the Microsoft mogul had a chance to catch up with Washington State’s Teacher of The Year Katie Brown.
When Katie Brown initially started her job as teacher at Shuksan Middle School, the low-income school was said to be of a disinterest to the public. Frowned upon because of it’s initial academic performance, Shuksan Middle School made a huge turnaround when the school got a new superintendent and staff.
In the video below, Katie Brown talks about her experience thus far at Shuksan Middle School and how she teaches her colleagues to have a more “hands-on” approach with their students. We feel like this video is important because it shows the optimistic side of intellects who have a passion desire to teach and educate our youth. Congrats to Katie Brown, and major props to Bill Gates for placing the spotlight on her various works thus far!
