An unfortunate tragedy has recently occurred involving a 17 year old male (suspect) and a 13 year old preteen (victim) in Carrollton, Georgia.

Upon his mother’s request, 17 year old Malik Davis turned himself into authorities a few days ago in relation to the death of 13 year old Nizzear Rodriguez last Sunday. Nizzear, who was said to have just celebrated his 13th birthday, was sleeping while Malik Davis broke into his house of residence and shot Nizzear in the head.

Reports have stated that Malik Davis could have confused Nizzear for someone else because so far no evidence has shown any correlation between the two juveniles.

The apartment complex/crime scene, Bristol Lakes Apartments, is said to have a history of gang violence. Furthermore, Davis is known to have a bad history with members present in Bristol Lakes Apartments.

Nizzear was living with his grandmother at the time of his death. A stun to the community and his school, Nizzear was said to be an A-Student with a very altruistic persona.

–“Nizzear was a wonderful student, well liked and always smiling,” principal Dr. Todd Simpson said in a statement. “This is a difficult day for this school and the entire system. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Nizzear’s family during this difficult time.”

“There is no preparation adequate for the loss of a child under such circumstances,” Edwards said. “We will continue to work with authorities as they work through the investigation.”–

In the past few weeks we’ve seen protests and riots breakout over the death of Mike Brown and Eric Garner. However, who’s going to voice their concerns over juveniles desensitized to committing crimes similar to that of Malik Davis.

There are truly no winners in this case! A gifted and talented student shot dead. And now, a 17 year old who faces robbery, fire arm possession, and murder charges which inevitably will leave one to rot behind bars for the rest of one’s life.
