Strokes frontman, and recent Daft Punk collaborator, Julian Casablancas has found something unlike we’ve ever heard from him in his newest project with The Voidz. “Human Sadness” is many things at once: a sprawling, formless, 11-minute epic pushed to celestial heights by a swelling guitar line, then brought back down by tempering violin strings. It unapologetically mashes different takes on rock, from traditional to new impressionism, all sewn together by Casablancas’ spectral vocal performance.
Julian Casablancas + The Voidz will release their aforementioned project, Tyranny, through Cult on September 23.
