CoverGirl, an official partner of the NFL, has recently released a pretty vivid photo to grab viewers’ attention and raise the support of women worldwide. In the photo above, you’ll find a photoshopped COVERGIRL who looks as if she has a black-eye due to a domestic violence abuse. This advertisement, or PR nightmare for the NFL, comes as a response to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and the recent domestic violence case involving Baltimore Ravens Running Back Ray Rice.

–“As a brand that has always supported women and stood for female empowerment, COVERGIRL believes domestic violence is completely unacceptable. We developed our NFL program to celebrate the more than 80 million female football fans. In light of recent events, we have encouraged the NFL to take swift action on their path forward to address the issue of domestic violence.”– CoverGirl statement via E News

If this advertisement wasn’t bad enough, a banner was flown during the Bears versus 49ers game that stated the #hashtag  “#GoodellMustGo”.

As a combination of the hashtag and CoverGirl advertisement, Roger Goodell and the NFL have been under heavy criticism from women advocacy groups who want Goodell out of office. Will these advertisements be the start of the commissioners resignation? We’ll find out soon enough!
