Anyone who’s familiar with alchemy knows that in order to obtain, something of equal value must be lost. In TÄLÄ‘s case, the London-area singer seems to have lost at love, gaining an uncanny ability to craft harrowing electronic tales at said expense.
If that Elric Brothers-centric metaphor went way over your head, it’s fine; the bigger point is that TÄLÄ is back with another utterly enthralling tune in the form of “Alchemy”. The track comes from her upcoming EP of the same name, which will be her second EP release of 2014. The song itself finds TÄLÄ caught up in a dark, sweeping soundscape, with an epic scale only narrowed through the singer’s captivating vocal performance.
Averse to the typical alchemical pursuit, TÄLÄ exudes a coolly destructive disposition, proclaiming “I can turn the gold into rust,” over what might be her most majestic instrumental yet. Alchemy is out on November 17 through Aesop.
