For the first time, the CDC has confirmed the first case of Ebola in the United States ( Dallas, Texas). The latest news has rattled many Americans due to the rapid spread of this deadly virus.
Currently over 3,000 deaths in West Africa have been attributed to this virus. In fact, experts believe the rapid spread of this virus, if not contained, will lead to about 500,000-1,500,000 million Africans infected.
Now that the first case of Ebola has been confirmed in America, many people are in question as to how likely the virus will spread. According to researchers at the CDC, experts believe that the spread of the virus is unlikely and that it will be contained.
Currently the Ebola victim, a man who was said to have returned recently from West Africa, is in a controlled facility at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
The disease is most prevalent in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea. Symptoms of Ebola include fever, muscle pain, vomiting and bleeding. Given the fact that the US is literally thousands of miles away from Africa, the recent confirmed case will put the entire world on notice of how threatening this virus is/will become. Hopefully this will the world’s most powerful countries to increase their efforts in assisting Africa to prevent the spread of virus.
