Remember back in your elementary school days when Lunchables were the common norm for a second grader’s meal? Well, we believe it still is the norm, however, one chef wanted to raise the status quo a little higher for six lucky second graders representing P.S. 295 in Brooklyn, New York. This chef was Daniel Boulud, owner of the highly rated/recommended NY restaurant; Daniel.
Entitled “Small Plates”, the video below was featured in New York Times’ fall food issue. While many people deemed the $220 (per person) meal too extravagant for “a bunch of kids”, we would have to disagree. In the video, it’s clear that both chef Daniel Boulud and the kids thoroughly enjoyed their 7-course meal. You see, though the food and dining experience may have been luxurious, the memory these kids will have of this event will last forever. We applaud Chef Daniel Boulud on his hospitality for these second graders. Just think how great this world would become if people in higher positions (such as business owners) extended their franchises to our youth similar to that of Boulud. Check out the video below, the reaction some of these kids have towards the food they receive is pretty funny; kids will be kids!
