In a year where people are calling 2014 the “worst year in hip-hop”, Nayvadius Cash, also known as Future, holds enough weight to mute a lot of skeptics. If you want to talk about artists most consistent in the rap game, Future has to be in the top 5. We first heard the Atlanta native after listening to Tha Joker x Blow It All in which we became a fan of the futuristic steelo he amplified on tracks. From various mixtapes like Astronaut Status & FBG, to albums such as Pluto and Honest, Future has created his own lane and unique style.
No future isn’t the most lyrical rapper, we clearly understand that. However, the whole “turn up” wave is something he was preaching before any artist in the rap game. A combination of crazy 808s, pianos, xylophones, and even digitized acoustics, Future’s music is for listeners who want to actually feel the music.
On this mixtape, Monster, Atlanta’s own Metro Boomin was the executive producer which sets the tone for the 16 tracks below. Metro Boomin has been having one of the best years compared to any producer or artist thanks to the various Atlanta tracks flooding the the airwaves and blogs (such as ourselves).
