After winning the 2017 bid to build a tech campus on Roosevelt Island, Cornell & co-partner Technion-Israel Institute of Technology have learned that they will be receiving a hefty donation from Billionaire Michael Bloomberg. According to The Observer, Bloomberg Philanthropies will be donating $100 Million, one of the largest single donations ever recorded to the prestigious Ivy League. This act is said to be in effort to help attract more tech-based jobs to the city of New York. As an ex-politician and founder of Bloomberg L.P., one can only imagine how Cornell Tech will one day “return the favor” for such a shrewd businessman like Michael Bloomberg. The tech campus is said to be approximately 12 acres and consist of 2,000 students when finished.
