Miami Senator Proposes Bill That Would Allow Recreational Marijuana

naplesAs Florida constituents prepare to cast their ballots on legalizing medical marijuana in the November election, Senator Dwight Bullard (D) has filed a bill that would allow for the recreational use of marijuana as well.  The bill (SB 1562) would permit persons 21 and older to posses up to 2.5 ounces, as well as allowing them to cultivate a maximum of six marijuana plants.   The proposal includes a regulatory structure that deals with the issues of the sale and taxation of marijuana.  However, with Florida having a Republican-dominated Legislature there seems to be little chance of the bill actually passing.
