P.O.S. Classifieds: Kara [Houston, TX]

Today, we have the pleasure of bringing you a very fashionable young lady from Houston, TX. Kara Smith, a graduate from Howard University in Merchandising, has always invested her time into fashion since a young age. In fact, her passion has lead her to create her own line of jewelry in 2011 called House of Wadjet. Check out how fashion influences her and why it’s important for her current aspirations!

“Ever since I could remember, I have always experimented with fashion. Though it was years ago, I will forever remember these very words that came from my mother’s mouth ” Kara Cecile you are not walking out  of the house like that”. Those words came around a time I insisted on picking my own outfits; around the age of 8. Regardless of how she felt, however, I still picked out my own outfits. I love fashion, but bigger than fashion  I love the arts. Music, art, architecture, and fashion, they all relate to each other. Likewise,  at the end of the day I see these entities and how they relate through traveling. Whether I’m going to  the museum or visiting another city I get my inspiration from my experiences. Even certain lyrics in a song will contribute to my mood which will in turn affect the way I dress in the morning. I don’t have a set style, it’s usually kind of all over the place which is something I enjoy. One day I could be Bohemian chic like Nicole Richie , the next day I could look like Lupita ( I wish lol). Fashion to me is all about having fun and taking risk no matter the outcome. Currently I’m interning in New York at the Nicole Miller Showroom. Living in New York, I get a lot of my amazing  inspiration from the people  I see on the street and/or train. One day I hope  to eventually use all of my experiences to create my own fashion house: House of Wadjet, which I’m currently creating for my own jewelry brand. There are many other creations I would like to branch  into, however, I want to first pay my dues to fashion by learning every aspect of the industry. The more knowledgeable I become the more I can grow, from that point the sky will be the limit!”  – Kara S.
