Active Volcano Tavurvu Erupts In Papua New Guinea!

According to the Rabaul Volcanological Observatory, active volcano Mount Tavurvu erupted early this morning in Kokopo, Papua New Guinea.

Nearby communities were evacuated and so far no reports of injuries or deaths have been stated.

–“Flight paths between Sydney and Narita [Tokyo] and Sydney and Shanghai have been altered as a result of the volcanic ash cloud over Rabaul in eastern Papua New Guinea,” a spokeswoman for Qantas, Sarah Algar, said. “QF21, QF22 and QF130 will now fly over central Papua New Guinea to avoid the cloud.”–
