Thomas Eric Duncan (42) has been in critical condition in a Dallas, Texas hospital since he was diagnosed with Ebola last week.

Today, the unfortunate news has been disclosed to the public via the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Eric Duncan’s death:

“It is with profound sadness and heartfelt disappointment that we must inform you of the death of Thomas Eric Duncan this morning at 7:51 a.m. Mr. Duncan succumbed to an insidious disease, Ebola.”

Duncan, who was a Liberian citizen, was said to have traveled to Dallas to be reunited with his girlfriend and son. The news of his death is quite surprising because his condition had recently been reduced due to positive signs of recovery.

Family members and personnel that Duncan has come in close contact with are currently being monitored. So far, none of these people have showed any signs or symptoms of Ebola. However, it should be noted that Ebola has an incubation span of up to 21 days!

Talks of cremating Thomas Duncan’s body are now in the works. Health officials are considering this method of disposing his body in fear of any bodily fluid leaks possibly spreading this virus even more.

So far an estimated 3,400 people have died in West Africa solely from Ebola this year.
