New York City officials have revealed their plans to invest $3.5 million USD in a new fashion epicenter titled the Manufacturing Innovation Hub for Apparel, Textiles & Wearable Tech. The 160,000 square foot facility will be designed to increase local manufacturing, create jobs and support up-and-coming designers. Ole Sondresen Architect will administer the 9-month construction process (starting in February), located in the Liberty View Industrial Plaza in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. 110,000 square feet will be dedicated to active manufacturing, furthermore housing 20 to 30 businesses and up to 50 designers.
