Kaytranada certainly gained popularity by rising through the ranks of dance with his infectious neo-soul inflected concoctions. But the Canadian beatsmith has also proven to be an elite level hip-hop producer through his work with GoldLink and Vic Mensa, as well as his material as part of the Celestics.
Linking up with one of rap’s hardest hitters in Freddie Gibbs, Kaytranada creates a gritty, bass-heavy backdrop for the Indiana rapper to run amok. As always, Gibbs is unrelenting and in a zone on “Dope House”, with a drug-laced delivery that would frankly rap circles around most other MC’s. The single from the duo will be officially available on iTunes in May, and was recorded at Red Bull Studios. Listen to it below.
