It hasn’t even been 50 years since hip-hop was first birthed, yet some of the most successful artists have accumulated quite a bit of wealth and are showing growing signs of philanthropy to help the communities they grew up loving. One of the most successful artists/producers in the rap game is Compton’s own Dr. Dre. With over a $800 Million grossed through music and entrepreneurship Dr. Dre now has his eyes set on donating $10 Million to create a creative art center as part of Compton High School.

“The center, which will boast creative resources and a 1,200-seat theater, will be a part of the new Compton High School, and is expected to break ground in 2020.
“My goal is to provide kids with the kind of tools and learning they deserve,” Dre said in a statement. “The performing arts center will be a place for young people to be creative in a way that will help further their education and positively define their future.”
With the obvious demand of role models needed to revitalize their communities, we hope more artists and like minded people continue to give back to their communities so the youth can one day build their communities as well. #productofsociety
