Almost a year and a half later a jury was found to hold Balch Springs officer Roy Oliver guilty of murder. On April 29, 2017 Jordan Edwards was brutally murdered after Officer Roy Oliver shot into a car full of kids he chased down for no legitimate reason. While many, including Jordan Edwards family, are happy that “Justice was served”, it should be noted that the officer has not been sentenced. What this mean is that the officer may or may not spend an adequate amount of time in prison. We’ll keep you updated, but this is definitely a surprising verdict based on the past years of unarmed black males being murdered by police in America.
