The only factor pending the decision of the ‘Fair Pay to Play Act’ was California Governor Gavin Newsom. Though the NCAA Headquarters sent out a letter urging Gavin Newsom to reverse his decision immediately following the bills passing in the state senate, the plan to pass the ‘Fair Pay to Play Act’ was never derailed. In fact, the decision became ever so clear once Gavin Newsom was seen signing the historical bill on the set of Lebron James & Maverick Carter’s HBO Show: The Shop. The placement of Newsom signing on Lebron James sent a major statement to the NCAA. Lebron James and his team have publicly expressed their concern with the NCAA profiting off of collegiate athletes for years. As a result, it was only right that both Gavin Newsom and Lebron James were able to celebrate this special moment together.
