The latest polarizing artist & song (RMR x “Rascal”) was welcomed to the worldwide web two days ago. We think one of the reasons this song has been so successful is because not only is RMR a great vocalist, but the visuals of the video were launched before actual audio. Moreover, the thumbnail of the video will cause anyone to stereotype the video before pressing play. Just like you, we were expecting a trap beat , followed by some hi-hats or 808s. Instead, the audience is presented a beautifully written country song describing an ode to RMR’s come-up from hustling and being fronted by his plug.
From the cinematography, to the location (Hollywood, Florida), and directing of the video, we think this is one of the most creative videos made this year. The original melody is from Rascal Flatts x “Bless the Broken Road”. Likewise, there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that this should defined as a country song (within the genre of country). It will be interesting to see the type of responses this song will get because some will take this as a joke, while others will see the true ingenuity created from RMR.
