Boston Marathon Bomber Sentenced To Death Penalty

Two years after the tragic Boston Marathon bombing incident, 21 year old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been sentenced to death on 6 Capital Punishment charges. Dzhokar’s role in the incident dealt with using a pressure-cooker bomb to detonate using a cell phone. This incident left 3 dead and 260 injured,; many people permanently lost limbs .

Tsarnaev’s defense attorneys never denied that Dzhokhar was behind this tragic attack. However, they state Dzhokhar was influenced by his radical older brother  Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Tamerlan died 4 days after the Boston Marathon bombing after a shootout with MIT police.

Yesterday, 14 hours after deliberation, Boston jurors were convinced that Dzhokar deserved the death penalty. Though he and his attorneys will appeal, it could take many years for Dzhokar to even begin the appeal process. The interesting fact about this death sentencing is that Massachusetts is a very liberal, Catholic & anti-death penalty state. However, after hearing the gruesome details about the victims of this tragic incident, the Boston jury felt Dzhokar’s sentence was justified.

How do you feel about this sentencing? Do you think this was America’s forewarning to any future potential extremist?
