After suffering the worst economic crisis in over 70 years, Sri Lankans have had enough! A few days ago, thousands of citizens marched to the president Gotabaya Rajapaksa house to force him and active prime minister to resign.
Both the president and prime minister have since decided to step down as of July 13th.
Many Sri Lankan’s are now calling July 10th their new independence day because of the courage and unity exemplified to physically take over the president’s home and force change.
This was a successful protest indeed, but now the world will be watching how this country will elect or create new leadership in the years to come.
